Oh my, I leave for a little while and big Stargate news comes out! A few days ago Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, the developer for upcoming Stargate Worlds MMORPG, held a media confernce call for news about how their game is coming along. Some of the new information includes the possibility of art assets from the TV shows being directly imported into the game.
Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment seems to be doing a good job with the pre-production tasks for Stargate worlds. One interesting item from the call:
There's also word of server competitions where players in each server will compete against other servers in tasks (the reward for these competitions is still unknown). All in all, it sounds like plans for the game are coming along well. We're obviously some years out from the actual release of the game, but at least it's off to a good start.
I think one of the best resources for descriptions of this latest news release is the Stargate Worlds Forum. The forum site is good in general for all things related to Stargate.

Combat will be based on the four player squad based that people familar with theStargate SG-1 TV show are used to. Ybarra said, "Combat will be quite brutal in this game," and said that stealth and cover will be a high priority in any combat, along with counter-measures and more.
